About Sarah...

Hi! I'm Sarah. Thanks for stopping by my website. I'm a Registered Nurse and a Registered Psychotherapist, which is just a bunch of fancy words for 'I like helping others'. I feel I was born to be a helper. It's part of me, and what makes me so passionate about the work I do. I genuinely care for others, and believe that change and feeling better is absolutely possible.

I've been a Registered Nurse for 9 years, and for 8 of these years I've worked with youth, adolescents and their families who have been living with an eating disorder, as well as, other mental health issues such as, psychosis, depression, anxiety, etc. I stumbled into this work, and quickly learned that this work was something I feel I was meant to do. My favourite things is when I see individuals who have been struggling with some area of their mental health (eating disorder, stress, low confidence) regain their life back, and begin to feel happiness again. To see the light in their eyes, and the happiness that comes from their pride is why I do this kind of work.

After nursing for many years, I decided to go back to school to become a counsellor. I realized that there was a big need in the community for people to get help before problems got so bad they needed to come to the hospital. Since this time I have completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, and in August 2017 I became a Registered Psychotherapist.

My work is grounded in many different kinds of therapy, and I like to apply whatever I feel would best fit your needs. I am skilled in Family Based Therapy (FBT) otherwise known as Maudsley Approach, and Narrative Therapy. I also integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness into my practise.

Outside of work I love hiking, nature, reading, health and wellness, music, and travelling.

I welcome you to ask any other questions you may have about me :)
