Starting therapy can be an overwhelming and confusing experience. I want to make this process as simple and seamless as possible for you. I would love to stand by you as you embark on this journey of healing and personal growth to become a better version of yourself. You are the only expert of your life, and the fact that you are here speaks volumes to your strengths and ability to be resilient and persevere.
My passion for mental wellness started early in my life and was motivated by my personal values for care, genuineness, humility, and change. Born into a South Asian and Islamic community, mental health was taboo, which fueled a passion to break the silence, raise awareness, and normalize conversations around seeking help. Throughout my life, I have had the privilege of engaging with individuals from all walks of life to create meaningful change. I have over 10 years of professional experience serving diverse populations at various capacities in clinical and community settings. This includes mental health advocacy in employment and education settings, implementing behavioral therapies, parent coaching, and facilitating group work for those confronting adversities. After years of working as a front-line mental health professional, the pandemic presented a unique opportunity to complete a master’s in counseling psychology at Yorkville University to fulfill my long-time aspirations of practicing psychotherapy.
My approach to care lies in person centered therapy, as I believe in your capacity for growth, self-discovery, and healing. I am committed to understanding your perspective, emotions, and experiences. As a person of color and South Asian women, I take on a culturally responsive and trauma informed lens which allows me to appreciate the nuances of identity and the contexts of lived experiences. I prioritize creating a therapeutic environment that is collaborative, transparent, non-judgemental, and safe for you to explore your inner world in a space you are accepted, and your privacy is respected. You are the compass guiding these sessions and I support a pace that is comfortable for you.
