Sarah Terwilligar

Registered Nurse, Registered Psychotherapist, Founder and Clinical Director

Sarah Terwilligar is a Registered Psychotherapist located in Ottawa, Ontario. Sarah currently practices online counselling and phone counselling. Sarah offers individual counselling sessions for youth and adults, as well as, family counselling for families with children, youth experiencing difficulties with eating, disordered eating, and eating disorders.

Sarah was born to be a helper with an incredibly big heart. Being a helper is engrained in her and it’s what makes her so passionate about the work she does. Sarah considers herself an empath and extends her empathy and compassion to all of her clients. She brings genuine care, respect, and consideration to everyone she works with.

Sarah has been a Registered Nurse for 15 years. For 14 of these years Sarah has worked with youth, teens and their families who have been living with an eating disorder at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Sarah stumbled into this work early into her career, and quickly learned that this work was something she felt she was meant to do. Sarah loves witnessing others regain their life back and begin to feel happiness again.

After many years of nursing, Sarah decided to go back to school to become a therapist after she realized there was a big need in the community for people to get help before they needed to come to the hospital. Sarah completed her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology in August 2017, and became a Registered Psychotherapist.  Since this time, Sarah has been dedicating her work to helping others with the problems they are facing, specializing in helping individuals living with an eating disorder, individuals who have experienced childhood abuse, and individuals who have experienced intimate partner violence. Feeling better is possible.
