More About Yehudis

When you’ve experienced trauma or long-term adversity, the path forward can feel uncertain, like your nervous system is stuck in survival mode, even when your mind wants to move on. Yehudis offers a safe, steady space to gently explore your story, reconnect with your body and voice, and begin to feel whole again.

Yehudis Stokes is a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist and a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) offering virtual individual counselling for adults and families across Ontario. With over a decade of experience in the mental health field, she specializes in working with clients navigating complex trauma, developmental trauma, dissociation, grief, moral injury, and chronic or life-limiting health conditions. Her style is warm, deeply attuned, and rooted in compassionate curiosity.

Yehudis brings a rare blend of clinical precision and creative healing to her work. She integrates advanced nursing knowledge with a rich toolkit of therapeutic approaches, including DBT, Internal Family Systems, trauma-informed art therapy, and the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics. Her extensive background includes roles at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and training at SickKids and Sheena’s Place. Across all settings, she has earned a reputation for being a thoughtful, calm presence who holds space for even the most complex emotions.

Clients who work with Yehudis often come with histories that are hard to put into words—survival patterns, dissociation, or pain that has been dismissed or misunderstood. She works from a trauma-informed lens that honours the adaptive parts of each person’s story, while helping them safely explore, integrate, and move toward healing. Her approach is highly individualized and deeply respectful of the wisdom each client brings into the room.

Yehudis has a special interest in supporting caregivers, individuals with chronic or terminal illness, professional artists and athletes, and those who have experienced systems-based harm. She believes in creating a therapy space where people feel genuinely seen, whether they’re processing grief, finding language for dissociation, or rebuilding trust in their bodies and relationships.

If you’re looking for a therapist who can hold space for complexity with empathy and skill, Yehudis is an excellent choice.
