Counselling for Children
Counselling for Children may look different from other counselling as often times family members are involved in the counselling process. Child Counselling is tailored to your unique family situation and family needs. Family members are welcome to be involved in the process. Child Counselling will be suited to your child's needs based on the area's they are struggling with. Counselling will include a mix of play therapy and talk therapy (psychotherapy).
Kinds of Therapy
Play Therapy
Play Therapy is a form of therapy often used with children, as often children have difficulty expressing emotions and feelings. Play Therapy can help the therapist gain insights and knowledge of what a child is dealing with, as well as, explore emotions, process feelings, and find new ways to cope and work on behaviours. Play Therapy may also be included in Family Therapy

Who We Help
Family Therapy
Family Therapy for Families who have children ages 2- 12 years old is offered either in person in Burlington, Ontario or virtually with our online secure software program called Jane App.
Family therapy may look like; the child meeting with their counselling alone, the parents meeting with the counsellor alone, and the counsellor meeting with the family all together. You and your counsellor will decide together what will be most helpful for your family based on the issue you are seeking support with.
For Children under 12 years old, we highly encourage a parent intake session to be the first appointment so parents can speak with the counsellor and make sure the counsellor has a good understanding of the problem.
